Great Opportunity for 6th graders living in Detroit
If you are a resident of Detroit and have a student in 6th grade, please check out the Wolverine Pathways program offered by the University of Michigan. Wolverine Pathways is not only is a fantastic opportunity for your child but it too may result in tuition coverage to the University Michigan! In addition to being a resident in Detroit and a 6th grade student, other program requirements include a minimum academic (English, Math, Science, SS) GPA of a 2.8 and an overall (all classes) GPA of a 3.0 or higher, as well as being interested or involved in community service activities, and you child too should plan to attend college. The deadline is closely approaching, and does require teacher recommendations, so there is time needed to prepare the application. Please see the link below for more information.

Hats and Gloves
The Dearborn Heights Police Department has donated new hats and gloves for students in need. If your child is in need, please contact your child's counselor and they will provide their child with a hat and gloves so they can stay warm this winter.
Ms. Herd and Mrs. Stubbs are available to meet with you regarding any academic, social, or emotional concerns with your child. It is recommended that you call or email your child's counselor to set up an appointment to see them. Often the counselors have their day scheduled or have other situations that arise during the day and are not available to give you their full attention when you stop in without an appointment. The counselors want to be sure to devote time to you and your child, so having an appointment scheduled ahead of time will allow them to free up time for you as well as gather any information from teachers to help during your appointment. Please contact Ms. Herd at (313) 203-3198 or email@example.com if you child's last name begins with the letters A-K or contact Mrs. Stubbs at (313) 203-3199
or firstname.lastname@example.org if you child's last name begins with the letters L-Z . The counselors look forward to working with you and your child throughout the school year.
